Ch 4. I like the stacking of stones. I think that there should be a place at the back of the property where all thoses who are baptized go through a small cermony and stack a stone on a pile. The cermony can be just like in the chapter where it is remembered what God has done for them and a place to go to so that they can remember what God has done for them.

Ch. 5 OUCH! I would be asking, can't we do like a tatoo?

Ch. 6 That most have been an intimidating sight if you were inside the walls of Jericho. I take form this that I need more diligence in obeying my God.

I wonder if the curse on rebuilding Jericho today applies to the present Jericho in Palestine?

Little inside info for everybody...Gibbeath Haaraloth is the secret name of my D-Group this year.

4:6 - Again and again we see the Israelites setting up visual reminders of what God has done in their lives. We have to know how easily we get distracted and forget about God, and we have to constantly remind ourselves f what really matters.

4:23-24 - God's works are always so that the whole world will see His greatness and turn o Him, no just for the Israelites.

5:3/9 - They circumcise as a reminder that they are God's people. The circumcision represents a cutting away...leaving the old life behind. Much like baptism. On another note, I am glad we baptize now instead of the other!

5:14ff - It is clear that the commander is not just on the Isralite's side, he is on the side of God.

5:15 - Is this commander Jesus? It is very different from other angel encounters. Generally the angels tell the people not to be afraid, yet the commander allows Joshua to worship him and in fact tells him that the ground is holy - like when Moses came in contact with the Lord in the desert.

Never thought about the commander being Christ. Cool thought.

5: I was wondering if Joshua did all the circumcisions himself, becuase that alone is a little intense.

6:14 The image of the commander of the Lord's army is pretty awsome. Just his presence alone makes the ground almost too holy and he tells Joshua to take of his sandals because the place where he is standing is holy.
