We have had a long enough Gospel break, so we will rock it out in Luke for a while.
I am unable to write commentary today, but I will verify that I read Luke Chapter 1 and it is my hope and prayer that I can look at the lives of my own sons like Zechariah did ans see that they are growing strong in the Spirit. That is what I want for my kids.
Peace be with you - B

Two things stand out to me in this text: following God will go through good and bad circumstances. Both births for these women were awesome things that happened in very different circumstances. For Elizabeth, the awesome birth was good since she was old of age and didn't have any kids. This was great news for her and Zechariah. For Mary, it was still an awesome event, but not so good circumstances. Pregnancy by an unmarried woman was not a good thing. She would face a lot of judgment and tough times. In good and bad circumstances, God's plan was being fulfilled. The other thing that stands out is that regardless of the circumstances, God's plan still belongs to him. He is still in control of the entire situation. Was it a coincidence that Mary's cousin was too a part of an awesome birth? I think not. This created a great opportunity of support for Mary, in the face of all the adversity she was about to face.
