Hebrews 5 - June 17, 2008

The writer continues with the explaination of why Jesus is our high priest, what qualifies Him, and how "he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him" vs9.

Vs14 - But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

This last verse is for all of us - constant use of God's Word trains us to be able to know what is good and what is evil. Constant use - not just occasional or every Sunday - but all the time.

Read God's Word when you get the chance - make time to read the message - strength comes from reading it over and over.

peace,
james

It's interesting that this passage uses the analogy of baby food versus mature food. One can instantly make the connection that mature food is something that an infant CAN'T eat. But what some people forget to mention is that a mature person can't live on baby food. No matter what your story is, it is unhealthy for someone to be living in a 100% liquid diet. The presence of a liquid diet means there is something wrong. either you are trying to lose weight, your insides can't process whole food, etc. So, not only can't a baby eat mature food, but a mature person can't live on baby food. Where in our lives are we clinging on to baby food, though it is hurting us...
